The carrier is introducing complimentary high-speed onboard wifi by way of Starlink partnership

Flyers flying with British Airways are set to use quick internet in the air without charge following a new partnership from SpaceX's satellite firm.

Complimentary plus Fast Internet Across the Board

The carrier announced that the no-cost, “fast and dependable” connectivity offering via the satellite provider will be available to passengers flying coach, business, or premium cabins starting soon.

Widespread Implementation Over Multiple Flight Operators

The holding company for BA, International Airlines Group, announced it had secured an agreement involving the satellite firm for providing wifi access for over 500 aircraft operated by its airlines, which also include Aer Lingus, Iberia, and the low-cost airline.

Uninterrupted Wifi starting at Boarding through Arrival

British Airways stated that the introduction of this technology was included in a seven billion pound “transformation” program and will offer lag-free connectivity access for passengers starting at the gate to arrival, even when in flight across seas or isolated areas.

Travelers may hook up several electronics while do not have to use a separate login.

Transformative for the airline and travelers, elevating their experience in the air on BA by giving passengers smooth internet from gate to gate.”

Current Wifi Services

Basic wifi service remains available to BA passengers on nearly all of the airline's planes using its .air service.

Participants of the airline's loyalty club may dispatch communications plus text-only correspondence during flights at no cost, whereas flyers wishing to watch audio, movies, and content on their travel if not flying in business or first can expect to pay from £4.99 and £21.99 per connectivity bundle.

SpaceX’s Infrastructure

The provider maintains a system of thousands of satellites and is run under SpaceX’s company.

Ongoing Improvements for the Airline

BA's leadership have been working to improve British Airways again following a period with budget reductions, system failures, industrial action, and large-scale layoffs.

The airline stated that implementation with AI has assisted them to bring their on-time performance at the best levels since over a decade ago.

Financial Performance

In August, BA reported a increase for earnings during H1 of the year, helping to push its owner results upward.

International Airlines Group is set to report the results for the three months this summer on Friday.

Other Starlink Agreements

This announcement follows shortly after mobile phone provider Virgin Media O2 announced it was teaming up with SpaceX to boost mobile network coverage in rural parts in Britain, enabling customers to seamlessly connect phones via orbiting devices when no standard mobile signal can be found.
